What is Hospice?
Hospice is a care with a philosophy that focuses on comfort, dignity, and quality of life for people who have a terminal illness and a life expectancy of six month or less. It no longer deals with curing an illness, but rather managing the pain and offers emotional and spiritual support.
The program uses doctors, nurses, social workers, and counselors to care for the suffering patient. Services are provided mostly where the patient lives, that includes nursing homes and assisted living.
Patients on Medicaid and receive home care services are eligible to apply for Hospice; however, patients on Hospice in need of Medicaid home care services will be denied.
