Many miss out on the Reimbursement program Medicaid provides. When applicants apply for Community Medicaid with home care services in mind, they are facing a lengthy process that can take several months before the applicant sees a home attendant.
During this waiting period if someone other than the applicant or applicant’s spouse provided private home care services through a Certified Home Health Agency (CHHA), they are eligible to file an application for a partial or full reimbursement depending on the circumstances.
Key issue to remember. Medicaid will entertain the amount of hours it approves. This means that if you provided 12 hours per day 7 days a week of private home care services, through a CHHA, but Medicaid only approved 4 hours per day, 7 days a week, Medicaid will process the reimbursement for the 4 hours per day, 7 days a week only.
