NYS Public Health Emergency is over

On July 1, 2023 NYS Public Health Emergency had been lifted.  What does this mean to present Medicaid recipients and applicants?

During Covid (January 2020 to July 1, 2023), Medicaid was not allowed to remove any recipient from the program.  On a yearly basis Medicaid requires everyone to recertify their Medicaid; however, during the Public Health Emergency,  some recipients responded to the yearly recertification notices and some neglected the issue on account that Medicaid had to recertify them during the Public Health Emergency period.

Beginning July 1, 2023, many recipients were dropped from the program, because they never replied to the recertification notices and are now finding themselves without Medicaid.

Recipients who were dropped from the program are given an opportunity (a short period of time), to correct the issue.  Others will have to reapply.
