Don’t Wait

I am sure we all read the book Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett in which two characters, Vladimir and Estragon, wait for the arrival of someone named Godot who never arrives. Unfortunately many families are doing the same when it comes to their loved ones home care services or nursing home care.

Unbeknownst to many and sometimes misinformed families tend to spenddown their loved ones life savings before they reach out to a Medicaid professional for assistance. Either they spend most of their loved ones life savings or almost at that point and realizing that they will have to start using their life savings they finally reach out and to their surprise they learn that they could have either saved all of their loved ones life savings or a good portion of it and receive Medicaid services equal to or the same the services they had paid for privately.

Waiting for Godot or holding off the Medicaid application for a later date both offer negative results. Applicant’s have the ability to protect either all or some of their life savings and be eligible for Medicaid medical assistance.

It’s important to understand that Medicaid does not have any home attendants nor nursing homes for anyone to say the assistance is of a lessor quality than if paid for privately. Medicaid simply pays the private agencies of the applicant’s choice.

Considering the above it’s extremely advisable that families who find themselves in a situation where their loved ones require care should seek out all of the information offered to them via network, social media, books, care centers, etc., on how to maximize the applicant’s life savings and receive the same services offered by Medicaid.
